Mannequin Smile

Bend and mould plastic
upturned lip corners
affixed, unmoving.

rouge and beige
glassy eyes, and garments:
seasonal apparel for seasonal wonts

no price too high
for passing fancies
the glassy eyes will want what they want.

  1. I once wrote a very similar poem to this while I was sitting at Union Station in Toronto watching the morning commuting madness. I couldn’t get out of that downtown Toronto job fast enough. I’ll always be a small-town girl who loves nature, beaches and any chance to giggle. How are you?
